Compare Zero Turn Mowers — Toro vs. John Deere

Making the correct decision when buying a new mower can sometime be a daunting task.  Why not view this current video comparing the new Toro 42″ Zero Turn Mower with a similar John Deere 42″ EZTrak?

Features and functionality

We’ll compare Toro’s 42″ zero turn TimeCutter to a comparable 42″ John Deere EZTrak. Take a look at the engines, Toro packs a more powerful 22hp Kohler engine. The Deere is running a 20hp Briggs and Stratton.

Toro features Smart Speed control system that gives you two speed ranges that are perfect for different tasks, without slowing down the engine speed, which would affect blade speed and quality of cut. The faster Mow & Go range delivers the perfect speed for mowing your yard quickly, while the slower Trim & Tow range gives you more control when you’re trimming or pulling attachments.

The Toro TimeCutter zero turn mower comes standard with a hitch, and works perfectly with a great line of Brinly-Hardy attachments – which makes this machine really versatile.

The other thing to look for is the construction of the mower. The TimeCutter has a heavy-duty 10-gauge frame. Compare that to the Deere. And check out the extra-large caster fork hubs with sealed ball bearings, as opposed to Deere’s plastic bushings. The TimeCutter also sports heavy-duty caster forks, designed for extra-long life. And a solid front axle. I’m not seeing that on the Deere.

Convenience is important too. The TimeCutter has a 3-gallon fuel capacity, which is 50% larger than Deere’s 2.1 gallon tank, so you won’t have to stop to refuel as often.
Another nice thing is the automatic parking brake. You just move the sticks out and you’re set — as opposed to the separate lever on the Deere.
